The Fourth of July looked a little different this year. Sort of. We still got together for our traditional Fourth of July breakfast at my parents. Our group was a little smaller this year, it was just my parents, Michael and Rachelle's family, and us. We had a fun morning eating and swimming. But with no cousins their own age, my kids opted to come home a little earlier in the day than they normally do. All of the community fireworks shows were cancelled, and we didn't really want to spend a small fortune on fireworks, so we decided to buy a projector and make a screen for the back yard instead. We had a bbq at our house with my parents that night and then got all set for our movie. And then all the neighbors all started lighting their fireworks, apparently we were the only ones that didn't want to spend a small fortune and buy tons of fireworks. The neighborhood put on a great show for us! There were so many going off we couldn't even hear our movie (The Sand Lot). After we watched the neighborhood show we watched our movie. It was a fun night. And this is the one picture I took on the Fourth. How lame and I?!
I should also mention that On July 1st I drove down to Salt Lake to pick up Ainsley from the Airport. I think the only thing that made her excited about coming home was that she got to finally hang out with Leo. She immediately got into full puppy mode. We were gettig tired and ready for another set of hands. Puppies are cute but they sure are a lot of work!
Potty training and puppy training were a huge part of our month. The strangest behavior we had to fix was that Leo would full on attack the feet of anyone that was walking down the stairs. He would fixate on your feet as you were walking down (he was gated off in the kitchen) and as soon as you stepped over the barrier he would growl and pounce. Moving feet were one of his favorite targets. It was hilarious and also slightly terrifying. Puppy teeth are surprisingly sharp.
Lucky for us we got another visitor in July. Sydney got sick of the Florida heat with no pools or playgrounds being open and with all the public beaches being closed. So she found some plane tickets and flew here with her kids. Honestly we were a little worried about her flying during covid, and at the time Florida had incredibly high numbers. John was worried about being around her and getting covid. He really didn't want to be the person that brought Covid to his office. So he steered clear for the first week she was here, and she was polite and didn't come in our house. But all was well, no on in our family got covid.
While she was here we spent lots of time swimming, we played at the parks, went running, rode the greenbelt, watched an outdoor movie, drove out to the boonies in Kuna to see a comet, tie-dyed shirts, and lots of other things that I can't remember. She was here for about 3 weeks.
