The flood was a bit worse than I thought. The hall closet was wet too. So now the carpets are pulled back and I've been listening to the hum of 6 fans for hours. Hopefully it will all be over soon.
*****Update: I just had to pull up the pad as well. When will it end! Let this be a lesson to you all to never overfill your washer!

Bummer! Bummer! Bummer!
I am so sorry. Hang in there.
how frustrating, are you feeling better at least???
Shoot Jess! Sorry you are having so much trouble! I wish I could come and help ya clean up and then we could just hang out and chat. And eat ice cream. It'd be awesome. Hope it all gets better soon!

Are you sure it was because you filled the washer too full and not that you have a leak in a hose or something? It's not surprising about the pad. Once it gets wet, it can't be salvaged--at least so I was told in our many, many floods.
Jess, I am so sorry! We had a flood a couple years ago (Colin plugged up the sink and left the faucet running), and I had to listen to those stupid fans for 4 DAYS!!! I thought I might go crazy! If it's bad enough, you should see if your insurance will pay for it -- I'm glad ours did, because it was about $10K in damage!
I hope you guys feel better!
We've actually been pretty lucky. I think since I caught the water soon enough (and because we have some pretty handy people in our ward) the fix will be free. The pad is still fine, we're just waiting for the floor boards to dry out before we put back the pad and the carpet. So really I guess I should be grateful that the problem wasn't a lot worse.
How annoying! I always put big stuff like that in my washer but I have learned my lesson by reading this.
