For weeks we (I mean Ainsley) worked on her big second grade project. The habitat. She chose to do the Arctic. She did research on animals that lived there and on the climate and then we were to create a 12x18 (yes there were specifications) model of her chosen habitat. John built the base out of wood. I figured if we were going to have to make 2 more of these we might as well make a sturdy/reusable base. She had to make her own animals out of clay. After a lot of time (and waaay more money than any second grade project should cost) she had a beautiful Arctic habitat. Never mind the fact that it will soon be gutted and stored until Owen is in 2nd grade!

I can't believe there is a project that involved for 2nd grade. It looks pretty amazing - and if you divide the cost between the kids maybe the money won't be so hard to swallow.
It looks awesome! And smart thinking on the reusable base.
