I have also repainted candles to make them match my decor. While I made them look quite ugly when I first painted them, I experimented with the polyurethane that I put on my table and, FYI: you can repaint candles with craft paint and a layer of polyurethane and they will look awesome...on a plant shelf. I have repainted Ainsley's hand me down dresser and shelf twice, and Owen's dresser once. I have also spray painted my fair share of frames (pictured above) and my living room lamps (also pictured above) more than once. What can I say, I'm crazy, cheap, and obsessive...I'm a real treasure! So this past week I spent some quality time in the garage repainting everything that I've wanted to get painted for a while. But, the whole point of this post, is that for the first time in my life I repainted something and made it AWESOME!!! I was given this old mirror (our house is the third in our ward that has been graced with it's presence). So here is the before picture (the left side and the bottom had already been sanded before I thought to take a picture). Not that the mirror was that bad before, just dinged up and in colors that wouldn't match my house at all.
And here is the after!
Isn't it the most beautiful $10 mirror you've ever seen? Well worth the sore, scratched, painted hands that I am now sporting!

It looks nice except for the rabbit years. You should get Dish Network and then you wouldn't have that problem.
I'm going to guess John left that comment. The mirror does look so pretty! I'm very impressed; I have no painting skills at all.
I'm also planning on painting my picture frames for the family room. I guess I'm also too frugal to buy new ones.I'm just waiting to be done with finals.I seriously can't wait to get started.
Will you come decorate my house? Your house looks so cute and well decorated. I just don't know what looks good and where to put stuff. Great job on the mirror. It looks brand new!
That looks amazing!
Jessica I've decided that buying new is over rated. I love taking something that is junky and turning it into somthing that I will treasure for years. Great job, that mirror is gorgeous!!
I'm so glad I'm not the only one that does that! Although I never thought of painting candles before! Very creative!
Wow, I want that mirror. Great job! You are quite the handywoman:)
The mirror is gorgeous, but I like the rabbit ears better. All they need now is some tin foil so they can look as classy as mine!
Nice John, uh I mean anonymous person. :) It looks so good Jess. YOu'd think I'd be more brave with paint since I make paintings, but I'm freaked out to do it with my furniture. I hate my girls dressers because they need to be painted, but I'm scared. I need to call you and get all the details of how to do it. :)
